Kohima, March 11: More than 500 hundred students belonging to the Angami community gathered at the Kohima College ground on Saturday to witness and participate in the second edition of ‘Nousi Rüzhü’.
The opening of the two-day sporting event, co-hosted by the Angami Students' Union of Kohima College Kohima, St. Joseph College Jakhama, Kohima Science College Jotsoma and Don Bosco College, was graced by Teisobou Sekhose, assistant director of Youth Resource & Sports as the chief guest.Addressing the gathering, the chief guest lauded the organising committee in bringing the union together and maintained that the continuity of friendship among the participating team should be built even after the sports meet.
Talking about sports as a profession, he said that Naga people are no less than others, and he urged upon the youth to work hard so that they can also compete along with the rest of the world.
While stressing that every sportsman should maintain "3 Ds" (discipline, determination and dedication) to excel, he pointed out the importance of attaining these three qualities in their daily lives as well.
Vimeyiekho Vitso, member of the organising committee said that the objective of organising the sports meet was to let the students come together and play with unity. He also emphasised on having a good bond among one another through such events. During the two-day meet, various sporting disciplines such as tug-of-war, arm wrestling, football, basketball and volleyball will be played.
Meanwhile, Dr. Menuosietuo Tseikha will be gracing the closing function on Monday as the guest of honour.
