Kohima, Aug. 29 (EMN): Sechu Zubza defeated Twenty XI Viswema 2-1 during their semi-final match at the ongoing KTC cup here at the Kohima local ground on Wednesday. New Market outclassed Vanguard FC Tseminyu 4-2 in the second semi-final match.
Last year's KTC Cup runners-up, New Market will now take on defending champion of Kohima Football League Sechu Zubza in the final match of the KTC Cup on Saturday.
Twenty XI Viswema were paid for their lack of finishing despite dominating the game as Sechu Zubza beat Twenty XI to enter the final.
In the match, Sechu Zubza opened the scoring through Hanglen Chang in the 23rd minute. Twenty failed to break the deadlock despite their chances that came their way.
The second half saw the introduction to Viho Kin for Twenty XI, who found the net with a cool finishing in the 50th minute to hand the equaliser.
But Sechu Zubza found the way back to take the lead again though Aloumei Panmei. A through ball from his teammate into the area found him as he took the opportunity to pass the defender and scored the winning goal in the 73rd minute.
New Market win
Last year runners-up New Market edged out Vanguard FC 4-2 in the second encounter. Menguzelie Rutsa scored a brace in the second half to make sure New Market team entered the final.
In the first half, Kethozhapu Meru scored in the 27th minute to take the lead for New Market in the first half.
Menguzelie Rutsa doubled the lead in the 47th minute for New Market.
Yhanshalo Kemp did score in the 50th minute for Vanguard from a defensive error to make it 1-2.
But Menguzelie Rutsa went on to score his second goal in the 55th minute and Rhitsho Mero also found the net in the 78th minute to make it 4-1.
Mathew Kezhose scored a stunner from the corner kick in the 80th minute but it was too late as New Market defended the score.
