DIMAPUR — The Secheku Area Public Organisation (SAPO), representing all three ranges, has expressed strong opposition to the proposed installation of the radar system at Pfutsero town.
In a press release, the SAPO extended its full support and solidarity to the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) in voicing serious concerns regarding this project.
“After careful consideration and consultation, the organisation feels that the installation of the radar system is not in the best interest of the local and surrounding villages.

“The organisation firmly believes that the project poses potential risks and long-term implications that could adversely affect the livelihood, environment, and overall well-being of the people in the area,” the organisation stated.
The organisation stated that Pfutsero and its adjoining regions are known for their peaceful environment, dependence on agriculture, and growing importance as residential and educational hubs.
It maintained that any development likely to threaten these aspects should be reconsidered with utmost caution.
It also emphasised that the voice of the people must be respected in all developmental initiatives and urged the concerned authorities to reconsider the decision and engage in transparent dialogue with all stakeholders before proceeding further.
Furthermore, the SAPO reiterated that all three ranges stand united on the issue and would continue to extend unwavering support to the CPO in safeguarding the interests and rights of the people.
It called upon the government and concerned agencies to take into account public sentiments and concerns and to prioritise people-centric development.
