KOHIMA — Reigning champion Sechü Zubza Football Club defeated former champion Red Scars FC 2-0 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, to enter the semi-finals of the 25th NSF Martyrs' Memorial Trophy on Saturday.


Sechü Zubza will now face Chedema Village Youth Organisation in the first semi-final on October 15.


Both Red Scars FC and Sechü Zubza FC entered the tournament in the pre-quarter-final stage and had won their opening matches to advance to the quarter-finals.

In the quarter-final match played on Saturday, both teams displayed exceptional performance. It was Lalminglu and Thejasetuo Gwirie who scored the winning goals in extra time at 90+16’ and 90+19’, respectively.


Match patron Anthony Ngullie, commissioner and secretary, Department of Youth Resources and Sports, awarded Lalminglu Vankal of Sechü Zubza FC the Player of the Match title.


The quarter-final match on October 13 will feature Mao Students’ Union taking on Nagaland United SC at 4:30 pm.
