IMPHAL — A combined team of security forces has recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and other war-like stores during a multi-day search operation in Manipur's Kangpokpi district.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of armed militants, joint teams of the Manipur Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Rapid Action Force (RAF), CoBRA unit of the CRPF and the Indian Army launched an intensive search operation on June 20 in Leilon Vaiphei, Leilon Munlui, Molhoi, P Moulding, Leilon Khunou and adjoining areas, sources said.
During the operation, security forces reportedly exchanged fire with suspected militants. In a statement issued on June 22, the Manipur Police said no casualties were reported during the encounter.

The operation continued through June 21 and the 22nd, resulting in the recovery of a large cache of weapons. The seized items included two AK-47 rifles, one M4 Carbine, two Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), one SKS rifle, one improvised .303 sniper rifle, 11 single-barrel loading (SBL) rifles, 17 single and double-barrel guns, assorted ammunition, communication equipment and other war-like stores.
Police said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb militant activities and recover illegal arms from vulnerable areas of the state.
