The programme was organised in accordance to the call if the Naga Students Federation (NSF), that stands for inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution to the protracted Indo-Naga peace process. An update made available  to the media on Monday informed that the programme was also to support the mandated Naga representatives negotiating with the Government of India for a lasting, peace and tranquillity in all Naga home land. Briefing the gathering, Marikho O’Leriina, president of the Mao Students said that the Nagas cannot let their identities and spirit be trampled. The flag which stands for its identity would be raised high and declared that they are Naga and would stand by it till their last breath, he affirmed. "What the people at present want is liberation and sovereignty to decide their own course of future and integrity to say to the whole world that they are Naga," he said. The candle light vigil would clearly say to the Government of India that the Nagas are one and stand in solidarity for an inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution, he asserted. Joseph Adani, President of the All Naga Students Association, Manipur called the day as "historic evening" as the programme was organised in all Naga inhabited areas to show solidarity to the negotiators and to the world that the Nagas want honourable, inclusive and acceptable solution to the protracted Indo-Naga peace talk. "To live as a free nation is not the desire and will of the Nagas alone but, it is also the desire of the living God the Almighty where it is God who sent the Naga people to live as a nation and sought the intervention of the Almighty God to liberate from the bondage," he said. The student leader said that people need to seek God’s help just as the Israelites were liberated from the hands of the Egyptians as the land itself had declared as “Nagalim for Christ.” "More than 70 years, the Nagas could sustain their movement and more than 22 years, the Nagas are under peace talk with the "Mighty" India. Such movements had clearly shown that the Nagas will not compromise their identity and their rights adding the Nagas will not succumb to any economic package but want the Government of India to respect their political identity which is the national flag and constitution which is the requisite component for their political aspiration of the people," he said. Taking the pledge that the Nagas don’t want bloodshed, the student leader sought the realisation from the Government of India that the Nagas will never compromise their rights in any circumstances. Siipunii Philo, assistant general secretary of the NSF said that he is proud to belong to a very patriotic nation. For any who doubts that the Naga is a divided society, the student leader said that such movement is the answer. For those doubted that Nagas have given up their demands for its national flag, the gathering is the prove for them. When the NSF first decided for such programme for the Naga negotiators and also for lasting peace and tranquillity to prevail in Naga home land, they want to prove to the world that Naga society is very united and to reaffirm their commitment that Nagalim is for Christ, he asserted. He expressed gratitude to all for coming out in support of a righteous cause and hoped that it would be the only beginning of a united push towards the ultimate goal that everyone desires though the future course may not be easy where he asks all not to panic but to stand firm and take heart to show that Naga society is a united one and to God, people would continue to dedicate oneself and nation. The candle light vigil programme was followed with a mass spoken prayer and mass slogan as “Long Live, Nagalim” and “One Naga, One Nation.” The program was attended by federating units of the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) consisting the Maram Students Union (MKS), Mao Students Union (MSU), Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM), Thangal Students Union (TAJ), Zeliangrong Students Union (ZSU-Spt) district frontal organizations and general public of more than 1,000 strong gathering.
