Kohima, March 25 (EMN): S.D.Jain Higher Secondary School defeated G.Mhaisu School by 149 runs in the finals to emerge as the champions of the Dimapur District Inter School U-16 tournament held at the NCA, Stadium, Sovima on Sun. March 25. 12 schools from Dimapur district participated in the tournament.
In the final match, SD Jain HSS electing to bat first set a mammoth target of 211 (all out) in 30.5 overs. Sujal rode on a century with 124 runs while Sumit Paul and Jeetendar contributed 16 and 12 runs. Kavito and Ranjan took two wickets each for G.Mhaisu School.
In reply, G.Mhiasiu School fell short of the target by 149 runs as they were bowled out for 62 runs in 15 overs. Mastufa contributed the highest 22 runs for the team. Salim and Ajay claimed four wickets each for SD Jain team.
The player of the tournament was adjudged to Sujal Prasad of SD Jain HSS for scoring a total of 210 runs and also taking eight wickets in the tournament.
Meanwhile Dimapur District Cricket Association (DDCA) also informed interested higher secondary schools, colleges and clubs for registration within March 29 for the Dimapur District U-19 tournament and contact Toni Chishi at 9774642205.
The association informed that a player should be born on or after 1. 9 .1999 and should be above sixteen years of age.
Copy of birth certificate, adhaar card and matric admit card are to be enclosed with the registration forms, it was informed.
The Dimapur District U-19 tournament will be conducted by the first week of April and will be played with red cricket balls and white uniform.
