Dimapur, Nov. 3 (EMN): The Wokha district Bharat Scouts and Guides conducted a “pre-foundation day” programme and a coinciding event called the ‘Tritiya Sopan Award Ceremony,’ on Saturday in Wokha. Extra additional commissioner of Wokha Tumben P Tsanglao was the special guest of the event, a press release from the organisation stated on Nov.3.
The updates stated that Tsanglao addressed the programme. The officer encouraged the scouts and guides to be ‘more diligent in discharging their duties,’ according to the press release. Recollecting his high school days as a scout he said that ‘decorating oneself with uniforms alone will not serve.’ One needs to be efficient and daring to work for the community and nation, the updates stated.
The scouts and guides took a pledge for the education campaign for girls, Beti Bachao Beti Pathao, which the members ‘reaffirmed and signed the pamphlet,’ the press release stated. The Beti Bachao Beti Pathao is Hindi for ‘Save girl child, educate a girl child.’
Other highlights of the programme were said to have included distribution of badges and certificates to qualified ‘Tritiya Sopan scouts and guides,’ the note stated. ‘Hundreds of scouts and guides along with scout masters, guide captains and district officials attended the programme,’ the updates added.
