Marking the golden jubilee year, with its 50th year celebration scheduled to be held in 2017, Nagaland State Bharat Scouts & Guides has organised Life Members’ Meet 2016-cum-laying of foundation stone of NSBS&G golden jubilee building with Khriehu Liezietsu, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, MTF & Lotteries and President, NSBS&G today at its headquarter at Bayavü.
Acknowledging the movement of scout and guides for inspiring people to contribute positively in the development of the nation and the society through its activities like community service, integration camps, exchange programs, outdoor activities, Khriehu said the movement of scout and guides is a unique platform available to learn through experience, the value of friendship, hardwork, harmony and humanity.
Also appreciating the NSBS&G for making progress in all fronts since its inception in the year 1967, with the commitment and dedication to train young boys and firls of the state to become good and responsible character, Parliamentary Secretary lauded NSBS&G for focusing to harness the potential of youth by inculcating in them, the core civilizational values such as compassion for all love for motherland, respect for women, truth and honesty in life, discipline, self restraint and responsibility in action. He also expressed happiness that the state scouts, guides, ranger and rovers had been taking part in various cultural integration and exchange programs across the country, and hopes that they must have learnt to apprecaite the diversity of cultures and the value of friendship and humanity.
Khriehu, who has been inducted today as life member of the movement along eight others, sought the continued support, contribution and guidance of the state life members, stating that the State Association is instrumental in supporting the active participation of younger members at national and also international events, thereby building their capacity and professional skills to steer the state forward.
‘Let us be reminded that the purpose of our association is to serve humanity and that the service to humanity is service to God’ said Khriehu, and also with the golden jubilee year on, urged upon all to continue to march and strive forward with fresh energy, enthusiasm and zeal.
Earlier, the Parliamentary Secretary has also unveiled the monolith, which was dedicated by Rev Neikhrienyü, Pastor, Baptist Mission Church, Kohima.
Congratulating the newly inducted life members, Khyono Lotha, Ex-MP, life member and State Chief Commissioner in his greetings said NCBS&G has been growing from strength to strength since its inception in 1967.
He also expressed pride that among the North Eastern States, NSBS&G is the hghest receipient of Rajya Puraskar award at the state level and Rashtrapati Award at the national level, and that many have started taking interest in this movement. He is also optimistic that the jubilee building will be completed in time with the support and cooperation of all the life members.
