
Students and teacher guides during an exposure trip to
Indian Institute of Technology in Guwahati.
- DIMAPUR — Samagra
Shiksha Nagaland (SSN) under Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) organised an
exclusive exposure trip for Science students of government higher secondary
schools to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, from December 14
to the 17th.
- The exposure trip was organised an objective to foster young
minds and leverage the potential for Science, Mathematics and Technology
learning in non-classroom settings beyond the four walls of a classroom, an
update from SSN stated.
- It stated that a total of 39 students comprising three
students each from all districts along with four teacher guides participated in
the exposure trip.
- The exposure trip involved various activities such as career
counseling session by Prof. Ramesh Kumar Sonkar, Department of Electronics and
Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati;
interactive session on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence by Dr. Debanga
Raj from DS and AI at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati.
- The students also had an opportunity to visit the Central
Library, Computer and Communication Centre (Supercomputer) at Indian Institute
of Technology (IIT) Guwahati.
- It mentioned that Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan(RAA) is
primarily focused to enable children to become motivated and engaged in
Science, Mathematics and Technology (SMT) through observation, experimentation,
inference drawing, model building, rational reasoning, testability etc and also
to create curiosity, excitement and exploration among school children in
Science, Mathematics and Technology and to create a culture of thinking,
inventing, tinkering and doing to promote inquiry based learning in Schools.
- It further stated that the exposure trip was organised by
Samagra Shiksha Nagaland under Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) with the core
goal of promoting and fostering scientific temper.
