Schools honour their rank holders

The students were honoured for their performance in the secondary board examinations.[/caption] Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): School institutions in Dimapur and Kohima honoured their students who had achieved distinction in the recent high school leaving certificate and higher secondary school certification boards for 2019. Various institutions issued press releases on Monday informing about various programmes they organised to honour the students. Rank holders of the high school and higher secondary board examinations for 2019 from Don Bosco higher secondary school were felicitated on Monday in Kohima. Updates on Monday stated that the chairperson of the Nagaland Board of School Education, Asano Sekhose was the special guest of the event. She gave away certificates to the rank holders and congratulated them as well as all the other students who cleared the board examinations this year. The updates informed that the chairperson had urged the students to "work hard effortlessly" to achieve magnificent results even in the future. She is understood to have address the programme. The chairman said that thorough knowledge of a subject is must for students and that there is no short cut to success and scrupulous time table, untiring effort, consistency, clear goals, self confidence and firm determination can only bring success. The students, state subject toppers, and their subject teachers were honoured with certificates of merit, the updates stated. Queen Mary Hr. Sec. School A similar programme to honour rank holders from both the high school and higher secondary boards, from Queen Mary higher secondary school in Mokokchung district, was held on May 6 at the school. Updates from the school on Monday stated that the programme had in attendance also the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung district Rajesh Soundararajan; members of the alumni, the school's board members; and parents of the rank holders. The principal of the school, Rev. Fr. John, was stated to addressed the event. He congratulated the successful students for bringing laurels to school. He was stated to have highlighted the achievements of the rank holders. The toppers were given certificates of merit as well as cash awards by the school management for their outstanding achievements. The teachers who helped the toppers secure highest marks in their respective subjects were given cash awards as an incentive too, the updates stated. In addition, the teachers who helped their students to get more than ninety percent marks in their respective subjects were also given cash emoluments. In his congratulatory message, the Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Soundararajan emphasised on the importance of planning and proper execution of work. He exhorted the students to 'know their aptitudes' and to take their own decision in life. The officer gave away the certificates of merit and cash awards to the recipients. In keeping with the tradition, the alumni association of the school felicitated the toppers for their remarkable success. The alumni gave the students certificates of merit as well as cash awards, the updates stated. The president of the organisation, Dr. Kilangwapang lauded the efforts of the achievers and exhorted them to continue with their good work. The four toppers in their respective speeches thanked the Almighty and their parents for their success. The students also expressed gratitude to the school administration as well as the teachers for the encouragement, support and guidance that they received throughout their schooling, the updates stated. Pilgrim higher secondary school A similar program was held at Pilgrim Higher Secondary School on May 6 in Dimapur during which the school gave certificates of merit to its successful candidates. The special guest for the event was Atula Kikon Yepthomi, district welfare officer of Zunheboto district. She gave a short speech of encouragement to the outgoing students, the updates stated. Short speeches by the toppers from the school followed a presentation ceremony. Cash awards were given to the achievers, the updates stated.
