DIMAPUR — The
Principal of Christian Mission Higher Secondary School (CMHSS), Diphupar, under
Chümoukedima district, was “physically assaulted” by a student of the school
along with two of his accomplices on Jan. 11.
According to Chümoukedima Police, the incident occurred
around 6 pm when the student, studying in Class 8, accompanied by two
individuals, barged into the principal's residence and assaulted him.
As per the FIR lodged at Diphupar Police Station, the
student demanded pass certificate from the principal. The three accused were
apprehended the same night and the student, being a minor, was sent to a
juvenile home, while the other two accused are in judicial custody, police
said.
According to police, the principal sustained a cut above one
of his eyebrows, which required stitches.
Related to this incident, the All Nagaland Private Schools'
Association (ANPSA), Chümoukedima unit has issued a condemnation note.
The ANPSA unit said that the incident “compromised the
dignity of the school's administration and undermined the sanctity of
educational institutions.”
“We urge the authorities to take prompt and stringent action
against the accused, as per the law, to prevent such incidents from recurring,”
the note added.
