DIMAPUR — School of Music Dimapur (SOMD) celebrated its 25th annual function at its school premises at Naga United Village, Chümoukedima, on Saturday.
Advisor of CAWD and Taxes Kudecho Khamo, the special guest of the event, in his address, congratulated the founder and director of the school, Apoi Nyekha, and her family for their sacrifices, vision and dedicated service to children, the church and the community over the past 25 years.
Reflecting on the institution's journey, the advisor said the 25 years might have seen moments of joy and tears.
Khamo noted music provides comfort, joy, solace, and peace, and is integral to everyone's life, whether one can sing well or not. He added people sing for various reasons — as a hobby, for entertainment, as a profession, or for God's glory — and encouraged everyone to sing for God's glory.
He went on to state that if young children are nurtured well, they can become valuable assets to society and highlighted that under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister, the Nagaland government introduced the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) to recognise and promote talent.

The government, he said, has been making sustained efforts to identify, train and provide platforms for young music lovers, including opportunities at national and international levels, where Naga music and talent are now gaining global recognition.
He said students must be trained to become good individuals, building a good society by instilling moral values, developing competency, and empowering them to distinguish between right and wrong.
The celebration commenced with various musical performances and songs that entertained the audience throughout the programme.
Certificates were also awarded to the graduating students.
The vote of thanks was delivered by founder-director of SOMD, Apoi Nyekha, while the invocation was pronounced by senior pastor of Faith Church, Z Aba Khesoh.
