School children of Chakabama areas in Zunheboto were treated to a display of military weapons recently during a weapons display event. The army unit stationed in Chakabama organized a patriotic song competition in the area’s primary school on August 10 as a celebratory run up to the 69th Independence Day.
“ Children of various age groups rendered soul touching musical numbers, which were appreciated and applauded by the audience comprising of nearby villages, teachers and certain office bearers. The spirit of nationalism was singularly evident during conduct of the event, which also included display of various weapons and equipment used by the army,” the army authorities stated in a note issued to the media on Monday, August 10. The school children and the youths were also treated to tactical demonstration and drills by the army personnel. The army pipe band was another attraction of the event that ‘enthralled the audience with patriotic symphony,’ the note explained.
“The immense contribution made by the army, both during peace as well as war, was fondly remembered and appreciated by all participants. The importance of organizing frequent interactions and spreading awareness about the army was also duly emphasized by the locals,” the note asserted.
