Dimapur, March 21 (EMN): The Department of Health and Family Welfare Phek, organised school health programme, of AYUSH (National Ayush Mission) at TMT Higher Secondary School (TMTHSS), Pfütsero on March 17, with medical officer of AYUSH, Dr. Sabina, as resource person.
Delivering the welcome address, principal of the school, Reynald Pyngrope, said AYUSH has become a part and parcel of the health care in the present society. He also thanked the department for taking initiative in organising the programme.
Dr. Sabina highlighted some herbs and plants that can be used for medicine for sickness like anaemia, anorexia, badbreath, chapped lips, common cold, cough, dandruff, pimplemark, dusentery, conjunctivitis etc.
Briefing the students on yoga, the instructor, Kelhouzasie Lawrence said yoga is not a religious practice but a physical, mental and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. He told the students and staff not to have wrong concept about yoga but to embrace it as an exercise to be done daily.
The programme culminated with demonstration by instructor. Students from class 8 to 12 participated in yoga practice.
