DIMAPUR — The Department of School Education, Wokha, organised a one-day orientation programme for surveyors and voluntary teachers under ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, at Tiyi Hall, Wokha, on Thursday.
According to a DIPR report, the main purpose of ULLAS, is to provide literacy and lifelong learning opportunities to adults aged 15 years and above who could not complete formal schooling, aiming to build a more educated, skilled, and empowered society.
Deputy Commissioner of Wokha K Mhathung Tsanglao delivered the keynote address, stressing the need for literacy in society and inclusiveness in education.
He thanked the surveyors and voluntary teachers for their commitment and highlighted their role and responsibility in educating the community. He further pointed out that education is the key driver to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

District Education Officer Raphael Zubonthung delivered the welcome address. The programme was chaired by A Chonbemo Ezung (ToT).
The keynote address was delivered by K Mhathung Tsanglao, deputy commissioner, Wokha, followed by a training session for the participants.
The training sessions included presentations on ULLAS implementation by ToT Daisy Tsopoe, the ULLAS primer by ToT Thungchobeni M Humtsoe, and ULLAS App and survey procedures by ToT Subenthung Kithan.
A short film titled "A New Classmate" was also screened during the programme. The concluding remarks were given by ADC of Samagra Shiksha, Wokha, K Chandemo Patton.
