School Education department conducts community mobilisation event
A one-day block-level community mobilisation training for the school management committees under EBRC Longleng was held at Longleng district

- DIMAPUR — A one-day block-level community
mobilisation training for the school management committees (SMCs) and school
management and development committees (SMDCs) under EBRC Longleng was held at
the VCC and VDB conference hall, Longleng district, on Thursday.
- The training was organised by the Directorate of School
Education, Samagra Shiksha, and the Nagaland Education Mission – the Lighthouse
(NECTAR), according to a DIPR report.
- District Education Officer, Longleng, Tinumayang, in his
keynote address, said the main function of the SMC/SMDC is to prepare the
school as per the Right to Education Act, which includes monitoring and
encouraging the attendance and regularity of the teachers, management of the
school, and recommending necessary action plans to the government for the
welfare of the school.
- He said the NECTAR project is the only scheme in the world,
sponsored by the World Bank, for the development of schools in Nagaland to
renovate and repair the infrastructure of the schools. He encouraged and
challenged the community to actively participate and contribute to the development
of their respective schools.
- A resource person from Samagra Shiksha and NECTAR presented
various topics, covering important areas such as ULLAS (Understanding Life Long
Achievement Society) – a new programme designed to equip young people with life
skills for self-sustainability. The importance of APAAR ID and Aadhaar
enrolment for students was also emphasised during the programme.
- Topics on the Teachers Attendance Monitoring System (Smile
App), Beacon School, Light House School Complex EMIS, roles and responsibilities
of the SMC/SMDC, and the need for it in the school were also shared. The
training programme concluded with an interaction with the participants, who
provided constructive feedback and suggestions.
- A total of 115 participants attended the training programme.
The resource persons at the training programme were Assistant Director of the
Directorate of School Education, Imtisangla; Sentinaro, NECTAR; and Akum, State
MIS Samagra.
