Dimapur, November 29 : The department of School Education has signed a memorandum-of-understanding with the Phom Community Development Society on November 28 to implement the mid-day meal programme in Longleng district.
This is the second memorandum that the department has undertaken with a nongovernmental organization to implement said scheme on PPP mode, a press release from the government on Tuesday stated.
The components of the agreement: 150 grams of rice per child per day for upper primary students and 100 grams for primary students. The cooking cost (which includes fuel, oil, meat, vegetables, lentils etc.) is Rs. 6.18p for upper primary students and Rs. 4.13p for primary students per day.
There is also a provision of an honorarium of Rs. 1000 per month for the cook-helper. Food grains are transported from FCI Godown in Dimapur to the SDEO offices by a carrier contractor and to the schools by departmental mini trucks. The cooking cost and the honorarium for cook-and-helpers are credited into the accounts of the School Management Committees (SMC) or through SDEOs if the SMCs do not have bank accounts.
