Dimapur, June 17 (EMN): The government middle school at Signal Angami in Dimapur is now a "happy school" under a literacy project of the Rotary Club of Dimapur."
The club is said to have provided for a number of sanitation amenities, infrastructure peripherals and co-curricular facilities as part of the project.
Rotary Club issued a note to the media on Monday informing about the event.
The "happy school" was inaugurated in a short ceremony in the school's premises. Members of school management committee, village council, GB, teachers and students of the school and Rotary Club attended the event, the updates stated.
"The Rotary Club provided for pure drinking water, hand washing stations, painting of school building and boundary wall, running water in toilets ,setting up of library and providing sports equipments, shoe and socks for the students," the press release stated.
The program was followed by a plantation drive in the school's campus.
The welcome address were given by Dr Simon Dzuvichu. He spoke about the history of the school, the updates stated. Sanjay Jain of the club spoke about the facilities that was provided to the school. President of the club Dr Nitin Agarwal highlighted Rotary Club's various service activities and stressed upon importance of social work, the updates said.
"Rotary club in future also wants to work in the field of literary and has a vision for achieving 100 percent literacy in India," the note added.
