Dimapur, Feb. 13 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has demanded the state government to publish the special investigation team (SIT) report in the public domain at the earliest.
A press release issued to media on Tuesaday by the union president and general secretary stated that the SIT was set up by the government for impartial investigation of post-matric scholarship for 2016-17 under the Umbrella scheme.
“The SIT had already submitted its report to the Government of Nagaland through the state Chief Secretary on 31st of January, 2018,” the press release stated.
The ENCSU warned the government ‘that taking a light note of such a grave concern could and will lead to the ENSCU taking extreme measures.’
The union said the students have ‘shown their side of patience and understanding in dealing with the issue, and now the task is on the state government to show its capability in tackling the issue. ‘
The union made it absolutely clear that nothing short of the exact copy of the report will be acceptable at any cost, the ENCSU said.
“The ENCSU will not adjust or allow even a single minute/time to the Government to out the result of SIT report to the students,” it stated.
Stating the misused of PMS fund is on top line, the ENCSU urged the govt. to register FIR against to those who involve in misused of fund and immediately arrest the person involve as per the law so the same does not r arise in future.
The union also reminded the government that the people of Nagaland and the students’ community in particular deserve honest report and sensibility from them.
Also, the ENCSU has reminds the department of Higher Education ‘to state the specific reason for not receiving the 4th instalment from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs even after producing the assurance to disburse full amount of scholarship before Christmas 2017.’
“The ENCSU also wonders how the department could notify such a report as ‘Report’ of PMS for 2016-17, when the Department is still yet to disburse full scholarship amount to the students,” the statement added.
The union asked the department to notify and to contact students’ beneficiaries immediately to those who are yet to receive the first instalment instead of clarifying the report of 2016-17 scholarship in 2018.
In case, the government fails to meet the genuine demand of the students, the ENSCU said the union is ready to execute further course of action as deemed fit.
