KOHIMA — Students, whose post-matric scholarships for 2024-2025 have been delayed, served a deadline of November 14 to the government to release the scholarships.
Expressing disappointment with the government and minister-in-charge for delaying the scholarship release, the students demanded timely payment.
Earlier, the students had planned a protest in Kohima to demand for the scholarship release.
However, upon learning that some students already started receiving the amount on Tuesday, they called off the agitation.
Speaking to the media, Kepozo Kapuh, a concerned student, questioned the prolonged delay in releasing the scholarship, pointing out that it's a recurring issue.

“We students are expected to be on time and why can't we expect our leaders to release our scholarship on time,” he said.
He appealed to the authorities to release all pending scholarships by November 14, warning that if not, the government will be held responsible for any action taken by the students.
Kapuh further appealed to the minister-in-charge to take the issue with utmost seriousness and added it is his duty to release it in time.
Convenor of Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN), Meshenlo Kath, also urged the government to release the scholarships promptly, warning that the association might lead a protest if the issue isn't addressed soon.
He pointed out that protests across Nagaland indicate the current government's inefficiency.
He added that protests across Nagaland reflect the current government's inefficiency. Despite being one of the first states in North-east India to achieve statehood, Nagaland lags behind in development, he pointed out.
He further alleged that organisations meant for the welfare of the people are working hand in gloves with the government and are slowly becoming the puppets of the government.
