
Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): To commemorate 100 years of Don Bosco Society in India (1922-2022), Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) organised a Dimapur-Chümoukedima inter-collegiate youth talk and quiz competition on October 21.
An update from SCHE informed that ten colleges including Dimapur Government College, Livingstone Foundation International College, St. John College, Eastern Christian College, Sakus Mission College, MGM College, Salt Christian College, Tetso College, Mount Mary College, and the host college Salesian College of Higher Education attended the programme.
In the first session on youth talk, K Chunchun from Dimapur Government College won the first position for his speech on the topic ‘Nagaland cultural diversity, a challenge to unity,’ while the second position was won by Kiyeto H Yeptho from Eastern Christian College for his speech on the topic ‘Towards ecological concern,’ and the third position was won by Khroriteii Lasuh from Tetso College for her speech on the topic ‘Avenue for the young Nagas in entrepreneurship.’
It stated that the special guest of the youth talk, Prof. Dr. D Gnanadurai at St. Joseph University, inspired the students not to be discouraged by failure or be affected by what others say about them but to look at every failure as a stepping stone to success.
He also encouraged the youth to take risk by coming out of their comfort zone, broaden their vision, and implement renovations in the state.
In the second session, Rev. Fr. NazariusLakra, vice provincial of Dimapur Salesian Province, was the guest of honour. He spoke of his recent trip to the birth place of Don Bosco, who spent his entire life to help the boys become good and honest citizens.
In the quiz competition, Salesian College of Higher Education secured the first position, while the second and third positions were secured by Dimapur Government College and Eastern Christian College respectively.
