SCERT Nagaland concludes three-day Kaushal Bodh workshop to strengthen experiential and project-based learning in schools

DIMAPUR — The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nagaland, concluded a three-day capacity-building workshop on the implementation of Kaushal Bodh at SCERT, Kohima, on October 30, bringing together teachers from 46 PM SHRI schools and eight District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs).
According to a DIPR report, the workshop aimed to strengthen the implementation of Kaushal Bodh at the middle stage and equip teachers with the skills and approaches required to promote experiential and project-based learning in schools.
Delivering the keynote address, Woshamo, Joint Director, SCERT Nagaland, emphasised the need to connect classroom learning with real-life experiences through project-based learning.
He stressed that the focus should be on the learning process rather than merely the final product, enabling students to develop critical thinking, curiosity, teamwork, collaboration and communication skills.
He also underscored the dignity of labour, the importance of cultivating a positive attitude towards work, and the responsibility of DIET faculty to cascade the training and support its wider implementation across districts.
Kaushal Bodh: Building the Foundations for the Future of Work is a curricular initiative for Classes 6 to 8 that connects classroom learning with practical experiences through structured projects.
It is organised around three forms of work—work with life forms, work with machines and materials, and work with human services—allowing students to explore their surroundings, identify needs, solve problems and apply knowledge collaboratively.
The first day of the workshop focused on the curriculum, learning outcomes, facilitation and planning a 30-hour project journey.
The second day featured hands-on sessions, including The Toys Lab, Tie & Dye, and project planning from design to presentation.
On the final day, participants took part in a cooking without Fire session, developed project plans and explored the distinction between Kaushal Bodh and the 10 Bagless Days.
The workshop concluded with an orientation on the monitoring form, SCERT updates and the distribution of certificates.
The programme began with a welcome session chaired by Rose Kithan, Research Associate, SCERT Nagaland, followed by an introduction to Lend A Hand India (LAHI) by Richard Asoso, Programme Lead, LAHI.
The training was facilitated by Nehali Ayare, Training Lead, LAHI, and Avanti Gajanan Harne, Training Officer, LAHI.
Representatives from the Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland and the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) also attended the workshop.
The workshop is expected to strengthen experiential and project-based learning across Nagaland, enabling students to apply classroom knowledge, develop practical competencies and build skills for the evolving world of work.
