Dimapur, Oct. 26 (EMN): The district-level SC-ST conclave organised by the Nagaland Industrial Development Cooperation Ltd., in collaboration with the Industries and Commerce department, was conducted on October 23 in Longleng. The programme was conducted as part of the National SC/ST Hub or NSSH scheme of the ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises.
The deputy commissioner of Longleng M Shayung Phom was the special guest of the event.
The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates on Thursday to the media informing about the programme.
Phom said during his address that the people must not miss any opportunity that comes their way. He urged the participants to learn and ‘gain something from the programme and inspire themselves,’ the IPR reported.
Phom talked also about entrepreneurship and self-employment avenues such as sewing and tailoring, and handicrafts, shoemaking etc to boost rural economy. He asserted that the district administration and the Assam Rifles are ever ready to assist and support organisations and individuals in the days to come.
In his keynote address, Sabaringiri M, assistant director at MSEME, talked about the Micro Small Medium Entrepreneur Plan and Machinery investment, and economic activities. He said there are 30 developmental institutes and 18 technology centers across India while in Nagaland 99% of the units are micro Industries.
Major MS Kaushik of the Assam Rifles at Longleng also spoke at the event. He asserted that students should play a major role in the growth of entrepreneurship as Nagaland is lagging far behind. He appealed to the participating students to learn new skills for individual development and to resolve the growing unemployment problem in the state.
In the technical session, discourses about various schemes and activities were presented by different departments.
