To spread awareness on the rising spate of child abuse and prevent the same, students of Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong, Meghalaya in association with ChildLine, Dimapur performed a flash mob at the Dimapur Railway Station. Students from Assisi School, Dimapur holding placards ‘Child slavery is a crime against humanity, we have the right to education, all kids deserve to be happy, healthy and safe, save children from abuse, the health of the child is the power of the nation’ etc were displayed in front of curious onlookers. After the play, representatives from ChildLine, Dimapur, called upon the people to step up and fight against child abuse. While distributing pamphlets to the audience, ChildLine Dimapur also urged the people to dial 1098, which is a toll free number, whenever they see any child alone or unwell, or when the child is in need of shelter, abandoned or lost, beaten or abused, bullied on the streets. It also called upon the people to volunteer their services to ChildLine. It may be mentioned here that Childline is a national 24-hour free phone emergency outreach service for children in need of care and protection. The project is supported by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development.
