- KOHIMA — The
Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) will celebrate its 75th anniversary from
January 8-10, 2025 at multi-purpose hall, Tewetso-ozwü Sweba, in Viswema
village on the theme “Igniting Excellence.”
- This was informed during a press briefing on Thursday at
Hotel Japfu, Kohima, by the organising committee convenor, Shürhovol Naleo
along with SASU president, Letso Mekro and general secretary, Kevingoto Sachü.
- Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along,
would attend the celebration as special guest and MLA and advisor of Prisons,
Printing and Stationary, Kropol Vitsu, would be the valedictory guest.
- Kevithuto Sophie, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, would be
the introductory guest; Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, MLA and chairman of Kohima
District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), would be academic session
guest; Kevipodi Sophie, MLA, would be the cultural guest and Dr. Hovithal
Sothu, project director of TaFMA, would be the guest of extravaganza nite.
- Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) would be the
session invitees for introductory session; Southern Angami Public Organisation
(SAPO) would be session invitees for inaugural session; Southern Angami Women
Organisation (SAWO) would be session invitees for cultural session; Southern
Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (SAGOK) would be the session invitees for
academic session and Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) would be the
session invitees of valedictory session.
- To mark the celebration a monolith would be unveiled and a
souvenir also would be released by the special guest.
- About 1500 delegates representing various village units from
13 Southern Angami villages are expected to take part in the programme.
- During the cultural session, there would be a traditional
fire making and group folk song competition. During the academic session, there
would be a debate competition on the topic “Southern Angami people are
understanding, peaceful and progressive,” besides a talk by Ane Khieya, EAC
Kohima.
