Dimapur, March 10 (EMN): Department of atomic energy (DAE) technologies display and dissemination facility (DTDDF), under School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Nagaland University, organised one-day workshop on ‘Technologies of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for the people of Nagaland’ on March 8 in Kipeuzang village under Peren district
The workshop was organised with full cooperation from the deputy director of agriculture, Peren, and villagers. Altogether, 60 villagers participated in the workshop.
Dr. Zieleigai Ndang, deputy director of agriculture, who chaired the function, also presented an overview of the village level workshop.
Dr. NK Patra, DTDDF exercising authority and resource person, elaborated in details about ‘scientific research and societal activities of the DAE’ and activities of DTDDF, SASRD, which is functioning in collaboration with BARC, Mumbai.
He gave a brief introduction of BARC and their domain of works such as nuclear technology, bio-medics, agriculture, food security, environment, health, etc. He also highlighted about procedural aspects for getting license of BARC’s technologies to start own entrepreneurship as well as available technologies with DTDDF, SASRD.
During the technical session, different technologies under DTDDF namely ‘Domestic water purifier,’ ‘Foldable solar dryer (FSD),’ ‘Soil organic carbon detection kit (SOCDK),’ and ‘Flouride detection kit’ (FDK)’ were displayed and demonstrated by B. Sc (Agri.) 4th year students (Honours) of SASRD.
All participants were encouraged to adopt BARC technologies and to start entrepreneurship using the technologies.
After the workshop, one domestic water purifier, five soil organic carbon detection kits, and one flouride detection kit were distributed to the villagers.
