Dimapur, Nov. 2 (EMN): STINER-TFC Nagaland Centre, SASRD: Nagaland University, in collaboration with ATMA Mokokchung conducted an awareness programme on entrepreneurship at Penli community hall in Mokokchung town on October 30.
SASRD press release stated that Bejamin Zhimomi, centre manager of EPVS Pvt. Ltd., and Ashok Jagtiani, proprietor of Design Lounge, Mokokchung, were the resource persons.
Speaking at the two sessions on the scope and role of entrepreneurs, Benjamin spoke on how to convert ideas into opportunities, the types of entrepreneurs and also shared business plan model SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time Bound).
Ashok Jagtiani shared about his personal journey and challenges he faced as an entrepreneur and educated the gathering on the importance of setting a goal towards achieving any goals, how to make market research, importance of maintaining healthy relationships with customers and the society and also shared tips on the right business strategies.
The sessions were followed with interaction, discussion and group activities.
Dr. Sentirenla Changkiri, project assistant of STINER-TFC, made a presentation on STINER-TFC, Nagaland Centre, SASRD:NU.
A total number of 55 participants took part in the programme which included unemployed youth, housewives and students from Mayangnokcha Higher Secondary School pursuing course on entrepreneurship. A similar programme was conducted at CBLT hall in Tuensang town on October 29 with O Akum, advisor of SONEN, Eduo, and HP Gupta, senior teacher and businessman of Tuensang town, as resource persons.
Speaking on the ‘Scope of entrepreneurship,’ O Akum highlighted the problems faced by the present youth because of the unemployment problem in the state that leads to depression, addiction and thus creating a negative mindset that limits oneself from venturing into different opportunities.
Citing real life examples from the project SONEN started by the Eleutherous Christian Society, Tuensang, he shared success stories of youth generating avenues and sustainable livelihood through various projects like compost making, haircutting, pig rearing, sustainable agriculture, etc. Also highlighting on the wide scope of entrepreneurship, he encouraged the youth to develop their skills and engage themselves in income generating activities.
HP Gupta, while speaking on ‘Do’s and Don’ts of entrepreneurship,’ highlighted on the 4D model of entrepreneurship: Deserve, Direction, Dedication and Determination. He also spoke on the importance of an entrepreneur to develop healthy relationship with the society, environmental awareness, the concept of healthy competition among entrepreneurs, involvement of the community in entrepreneurship and also educated the gathering on accounts and product branding.
A total number of 65 youth from different organisations and schools participated in the programme.
