Dimapur, Dec. 22 (EMN): The School of Agricultural Science and Rural Development (SASRD) at Medziphema under the AICRP for vegetable crops conducted a seed distribution programme for beneficiaries on December 19 at new Socϋϋnoma and Bade villages.
Considering the consumption and production rates of onion in Nagaland, Dr. Major Singh, director of the ICAR-directorate of onion and garlic research, Rajgurunagar, Pune of Maharashtra, and Prof. Akali Sema, principle investigator of TSP Onion, felt the need to popularise onion cultivation among tribal farmers of Nagaland, an update from the university stated.
Dr. Aastik Jha, Dr. Waluniba and Dr. Moakala Changkiri distributed rabi onion seeds to the best performing beneficiaries to encourage and popularise onion cultivation, updates stated.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the organisers for initiating such a programme, and assured full cooperation for the success of the programme.
