The Southern Angami Sports’ Association (SASA) will hold its 54th wrestling meet 2016 at Kohima Local Ground from January 28 to 29. Minister for forest, environment & climate change Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire will grace the meet as the chief guest while MLA Er. Vekho-o Yhoshii will be the guest of honour.
The champion in Naga style will fetch a cash prize of Rs. 80,000 while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th position will carry Rs. 60,000, Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.
Quarter finalist will be awarded with Rs. 5000.
The winner in senior category of free style wrestling will carry Rs. 6000 while runner-up will get Rs. 4000.
Prize of junior/cadet category is set at Rs. 4000 for winner and Rs. 2000 for runner-up.
The inaugural function will start by 9:00 AM with SASA general secretary Vilekho Bio as chairman. SASA presidential address will be delivered by Er. Zale Neikha, president SASA while administration of oath to wrestlers will be done by SASA wrestling secretary Zaprani Mekro.
Referees for Naga style wrestling include; Zehoto Kikhi, Videho Kintso and Kekhwesiil Thokhwe. Vilu Soleho and Wheto Yhoshii will act as second referee. The referee for freestyle wrestling will be from wrestling coach of Nagaland. Field judges will comprise; Atho Koso, Zeluolie Chale, Zevisa Phinyo, Neisakuo Terhiikhano, Vilepra Riilu, Vikhotso Tenyi, Vilepi Kuotsu and Kezeviho Viswentso. Time keepers- Vipel Thaprii and Dziivisii-o Kapu. Runners: Vikhotso Livi, Medovi Yongo, Vitolie Kuotsu and Yosa Thukhrie. Recorders: Tsielie Zashiimo, Khoto Ngukha and Tosovi Khariitso. Ketobu Vitsu and Kedozo Yhokha will assist as announcers.
Meanwhile, SASA informed that weight measurement for free style will take place on the evening of January 28.
The tournament officials, team managers or team coaches have been asked to turn up for briefing on January 27 at 2:00 PM at the tournament venue.
