School of Agricultural Sciences students at Nagaland University attend an ICAR–TSP career counselling session.

DIMAPUR — A one-day offline career counselling session was held on November 15 under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research–Tribal Sub-Plan (ICAR–TSP) project titled “Development of Soft Skills, Professional Business and Entrepreneurial Skills to Enhance Employability among Students” at the School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Medziphema Campus, Nagaland University (NU).
According to an update, the programme aimed to empower students with essential knowledge about competitive examinations and career pathways and was facilitated by Damaso Digital Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
The formal session was chaired by Dr. Mary N Odyuo, associate professor and principal investigator, ICAR–TSP. She noted the importance of student engagement and said that such initiatives play a significant role in guiding students toward informed academic and career decisions.
Prof. Dipak Sinha, pro-vice chancellor, Nagaland University, delivered an exhortation on building soft skills, professional abilities, and career preparedness among students. He stated that students today are fortunate to have access to structured support systems such as the ICAR–TSP project, which play a crucial role in strengthening their competitive capabilities.

He encouraged the participants to make full and sincere use of these opportunities to enhance their academic growth and future career prospects.
Motivational messages were also shared by Dr. Debika Nongmaithem, assistant professor and co-PI, and Dr. Sentirenla Jamir, assistant professor and co-PI. Both stressed the importance of active participation in initiatives that enrich students’ academic progress and career readiness, whether offline or online, noting that such involvement is essential for developing employability skills.
An in-depth session facilitated by Damaso Digital Solutions Pvt. Ltd. was led by Shashank Dixit, an international trainer and author.
He covered a wide range of competitive examinations, beginning with the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), and extended the session to include major sectors such as banking and financial services, defence services, railways, Staff Selection Commission (SSC), ICAR ARS, Food Corporation of India (FCI), Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) and allied examinations, as well as research organisations like Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), state civil services, and teaching eligibility tests.
He provided students with a clear overview of multiple career pathways and the preparation strategies required for them.
The session concluded with an interactive segment, during which students engaged with the resource person and gained clarity on various aspects of competitive exam preparation and career planning.
