The conglomeration of Ao, Kyong, Rengma and Sumi students (SARK) has expressed full support to the peoples’ movement of the Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) as well as the fight of Naga tribal apex, the Naga Tribes’ Council (NTC) against recognition of the Rongmei community as a “tribe of Nagaland.”
The Sumi, Ao, Rengma, and Kyong (SARK) students’ co-ordinations committee met on June 7 in Zuheshe village in Niuland. They deliberated various issues pertaining to the state of affairs in Nagaland and resolved to render unflinching support to ‘people's cause.’
“ACAUT movement, which is called ‘peoples movement,’ has brought tremendous change in the daily affairs of its people in the state. The house extends its appreciation to all the members of the ACAUT Nagaland and resolve to extend its fullest support of the peoples cause,” a press release received here on Monday from the students’ organization stated.
Likewise, SARK stated that the movement spearheaded by the Nagaland Tribes’ Council against the recognition of the Rongmei community was an aspiration of the indigenous people of Nagaland state.
‘It is the aspiration of the indigenous people of the state, hence resolved to render its fullest support with its appeal to the state government to listen to the people with outmost sincerity,” the organization stated.
Among others, the SARK appreciates all stake holders such as the members of the foothill road co-ordination committee, the government of Nagaland, “land owners of the affected project”, and civil society among others for undertaking the foothill road. The organization has urged them to bring the project to “reality”.
