Dimapur, July 29 (EMN): Sao Chang Government College, Tuensang celebrated its 44th Freshers’ Day on July 28 at the College Auditorium with assistant commandant of 3rd NAP, Tuensang, Impung, as guest speaker.
The speaker, who is also an alumnus of the college, shared his past experienced, where he was equipped with the intellectual tools of knowledge. He said the college has shaped him and what he is today was because of the quality education he received from the college and for which he expressed his gratitude to the college.
He encouraged the students to be regular in the academic classes and hardworking in studies to become successful individuals in the future.
He told the students that they should not develop any inferiority complex of being the students of the college which is located at the far remotest part of the state, because in this information and technological age, the whole world is well-connected and well-informed about everything. With the advent of information technology, he said all kinds of information are at hand, therefore, the students should use the technological gadgets for the purpose of keeping oneself updated in the field of learning.
He further exhorted the students to not spend time unnecessarily in unproductive activities but to make best use to set better life for future.
Principal of the college, Chubasangla, in her address said once the student enters to college life, they become more responsible, because one prepares his or her future during this stage. If students do not prepare well at this stage, the rest of the future will be full of darkness, she added.
She pointed out that the aim of higher education is to impart quality education and also to produce quality life. The principal also said students should be responsive in all academic activities including co-curricular activities to equip well to become useful citizen in the society. She maintained that students should also develop various vocational skills when they are in the college so that after the completion of their academic courses they will be able to earn for their livelihood.
She welcomed the freshers to the college and encouraged them to be sincere, obedient and extend her best wishes for the students in their studies.
On the occasion, the Academic Excellence Award and Best Student of the Year Award were also given.
Betikundang Chang and Somba Lomchu were declared Miss & Mr Freshers 2017 respectively.
