Dimapur, Nov. 5 (EMN): The Sao Chang Government College Students’ Union (SCCSU) and the Loyem Memorial Degree College Students’ Union (LMDCSU) Tuensang have extended it support to the demand made by its apex body, Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) with regards to immediate disbursement of scholarship in full amount for the year 2016-17.
The two students’ body expressed anguish over the inaction and irresponsible attitude of the department of Higher Education and the state government in turning deaf ears to its demand.
A press release jointly appended by the LMDCSU president PS Kongmai, general secretary Hechilila Sangtam and SCCSU general secretary Changsomba Chang, questioned as to why the department and the government were still not responding to the demand despite several appeals and representation submitted by the ENCSU.
“The two students’ union body will not tolerate such manipulative policy of the department and the government to continue, as such kind of policy affect to the student’s career,” stated the press release.
The unions also said release of scholarship in an installment basis to ST students particularly in Nagaland, was “unsound and known as funny game for the students community in Nagaland,”
The SCCSU and LMDCSU demanded the department and the government to immediately release the scholarship in full amount before the expiry of seven days ultimatum served by ENCSU to Chief Mininster.
The two students’ body also extended its support to ENCSU to take severe course of action if the Government and the department failed to fulfill its demand.
