Dimapur, Dec. 29 (EMN): Alleging misconducts, GBs and village council members of Sanis village council (SVC) in Wokha district have unanimously decided to remove its chairman, Nzanthung Murry, with effect from January 1, 2019.
The decision to this effect was taken in an extra ordinary emergency meeting held on December 19, in which 13 GBs and VCMs out of the total 21 VCMs favoured for his removal in the interest of Sanis village populace.
Following threadbare discussion on the Nagaland Village Council Act 1978 and 1979 under Clause (C) (e) and (f), and in pursuance to the village council’s resolutions, the members felt that such autocrat and corrupted leader should be removed since he has lost the confidence of the public.
A press release issued by the Head GB of Sanis village, T Phyobemo Ngully, incorporating 14 signatories of GBs and VCMs stated on December 29 stated that basing on prima facie, the members have found him guilty misappropriating the village funds on several occasions.
In this regard, the house unanimously resolved to authorise the Head GB of Sanis village to discharge all official correspondence till the time a new chairman is installed for the convenience of village administration. It further requested the concerned authority to cooperate with the village council’s arrangement for the smooth functioning of all government related activities.
