Sanathoi regrets not winning gold

Correspondent IMPHAL,SEPTEMBER 28 WUSHU player Yumnam Sanathoi Devi, who became the first sportsperson from North Eastern region to win a medal in the ongoing 17th Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea, has regretted for not getting gold. Expressing regret for failing to achieve gold medal in the Asiad, Sanathoi said, “I did not have much time for preparation and consultation with coaches.” Sanathoi bagged the bronze medal in Wushu (Shanshou 52 kg category) event as she lost to a Chinese opponent in the ongoing Asiad. She however believes that she will surely win a gold medal in the upcoming Sanshou championship due to be held in Indonesia. Sanathoi credited her success to her parents and coaches. Sanathoi was accorded a warm welcome by Wushu Association of Manipur, officials of Sports Authority of India, players, coaches of various sports discipline, including relatives and family members when she arrived here on Saturday along with two other players, W Sandhyarani and Y Sapana. Altogether four wushu players including Technical Official Sachidananda and lone male player Mayanglambam Bimoljit have participated in the ongoing Incheon Asiad.
