State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute organises training for ATMA functionaries on scientific production technology in cereal and kharif crops.

DIMAPUR — State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema, organised a three-day training programme for ATMA functionaries on “Scientific production technology in cereal and kharif crops” from March 25 to the 27th.
An update from SAMETI stated that Prof. Dr. T Gohain, HoD, Department of Agronomy, SAS, Medziphema; Dr. Hillel M Chishi, Department of Agronomy, SAS, Medziphema; Dr. Lizabeni Kithan, Department of Agronomy, SAS, Medziphema; and Dr. Harendra Verma, Scientist, Genetics and Plant Breeding at ICAR, NE Region, Nagaland Centre, were the resource persons. Topics covered during the training included ‘Scientific production technologies for millets,’ ‘Scientific production technologies for maize,’ ‘Precision farming: A tool for modern agriculture,’ ‘Scientific production of rice in NE region,’ ‘Weed, pest disease management,’ ‘Nutrient and water management’ and ‘Importance and scope of rice grown in Nagaland.’

It stated that participants were also taken for a field visit to the Department of Agronomy Laboratory and ICAR Farm and Laboratory.
It added that the valedictory programme was chaired by its deputy project director, Yezaho Swu, while the valedictory address was delivered by Bodevi Shuya, director of SAMETI and Principal of IETC, Medziphema. It further stated that certificates were awarded to 29 ATMA functionaries.
