Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) has organised a three-day training programme on “Production and management of poultry and rabbit” for ATMA functionaries at SAMETI, Medziphema, from June 29 to July 1. The programme was aimed at enhancing the knowledge of the participants about poultry and rabbit production and management in order to enable them assist farmers in the field who are interested in poultry and rabbit farming.

Resource person of the training programme was Dr. Ebibeni Ngully, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (Animal Science), KVK, Dimapur. The training covered important topics on poultry housing, brooding management, disease management, poultry feeding, layer management, introduction to rabbit farming, breeds of rabbit, management techniques, handling rabbit, feeding and watering, breeding management, sexing of rabbits, sanitation, diseases of rabbit and marketing.
The trainees were also taken for a field visit to the ICAR poultry and rabbit farm to get first hand practical experience on production and management of poultry and rabbit.
The valedictory function was chaired by Dr. Ithika C Swu, DPD SAMETI, while feedback on the training was delivered by Moanukshi, BTM, Mon, and Dr. Tiatula Jamir, BTM, Wokha.
Resource person and guest of honour of the valedictory function Dr. Ebibeni Ngully, in her valedictory address, encouraged the trainees to disseminate the knowledge to the farmers and also highlighted on various livestock schemes of the Government of India available for the farmers.
