SAMETI Medziphema organises three-day training programme for ATMA functionaries on livestock production.

DIMAPUR — The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema, organised a three-day training programme for ATMA functionaries on the topic ‘Livestock production: Recent trends and future prospects’ from February 4 to the 6th.
In a press release, the Director SAMETI & Principal IETC stated that the training programme aimed at imparting technical and on- field learning experiences on livestock production to the participants.
The resource persons for the training programme were Dr. Michael Imti, Deputy Director, Veterinary Hospital, Dimapur; Dr. Kevi Kikhi, Farm Manager, Veterinary Field Assistant Training Institute (VFATI), Medziphema; and Dr. Vikovor Nipu, Manager (P&QC) and in-charge (P&I), Dimul Dimapur.

Topics on present status and future prospects of livestock production in Nagaland, subsidies, credit and insurance schemes, departmental activities and schemes, piggery production and management, poultry production and management, rabbit production and management, market and value chain development in important livestock, and processing of milk and milk products were covered.
The participants were also taken for field visits to Dimul, Dimapur, and Rabbit farm, VFATI, Medziphema. The valedictory program was chaired by Tiajungla Longchar, Deputy Project Director, SAMETI, while the valedictory address was delivered by Bodevi Shuya, Director SAMETI & Principal IETC, Medziphema.
Feedback on the training programme was given by all the participants.
The training programme concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Akam Zeliang, Deputy Project Director, SAMETI, and distribution of certificates. Altogether, 29 ATMA functionaries from 15 districts of Nagaland attended the training programme.
Earlier, the inaugural program was chaired by Tiajungla Longchar, Deputy Project Director of SAMETI.
In his inaugural speech, Director of SAMETI Bodevi Shuya stated that livestock production training is an important aspect in today’s agricultural landscape.
He also mentioned that with the launch of the National Mission on Natural Farming scheme, trainings on livestock production have become inevitable.
