DIMAPUR — The
State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI),
Medziphema, organised a two-day training programme on ‘Packages and practices
of spices and plantation crops: Its management’ on November on 28 and 29.
According to an update, the resource persons for the
training were Samsing Taro, extension assistant of Spices Board of India;
Mhasizotuo, senior technical assistant of Central Institute of Horticulture,
Medziphema; Dr. A Sarkar, assistant professor of Department of Horticulture,
SAS:NU Medziphema Campus; Kitoholi, Rubber Board, Dimapur, and Kuruvilla
Cherian, development officer (deputy rubber production commissioner in charge).
The resource persons highlighted on package and practices,
post-harvest management of large cardamom, improved production technology of
cashew nut, strategies for crop improvement, revenue generation through spices
and plantation crops in Nagaland.
They also shared on scientific management of rubber
plantation, scientific tapping and processing in rubber.
The participants were taken for a field visit to Central
Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema and Model Processing Centre, Nito
Farm at Hokhezhe village.
The valedictory programme was chaired by Yezaho Swu, DPD
SAMETI.
A total of 25 ATMA functionaries attended the training and
feedback on the training was given by all the participants.
