That if you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10
Salvation is a gift which can only be received through faith. The world we live has been defiled by the men and women of sin. Wherever we go the influence of it will always be around us. Its (world) desires will always lure us to do what its spirit desires. The way of the world has not only defiled the people of the world but it has also destroyed the souls of many. Our condition would have been worst if divine blood had not been shed.
The law would have destroyed us if it had prevailed. As is written “For what the law was powerless to do it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending His own son in the likeness of man to be sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the spirit. Romans 8:3-4
It is clear to us that our Christian faith is based on the way of the Word. It is to be noted that salvation can only be achieved through confession and God’s love can be won only through obedience. A deceptive theology known as the “liberal theology” claimed that we can now be saved regardless of what our sins are. It further twisted the scripture by claiming that sinners and saints alike can be in heaven because of the sacrifice of Christ. Many had been deceived by this false theology and many had also perished because of it. In view of this every believer should study the scripture diligently and live by the truths of it.
We become believers the moment we accept Christ as our personal savior. And our salvation becomes secured the moment we get baptized in water and in spirit. The moment we start believing in the cross of Christ and in the way of salvation, the evil ones starts plotting our downfall. The truth is we aren’t saved until and unless we are truly born again the Spirit. I once caught a woman who was in a compromising position with two men. I asked them whether they were Christians. They said they were. The condition of many of our spirituality are no better than theirs. The above illustration clearly shows the vulnerability of many Christians to the way of sin.
When we are baptized in water and in spirit we become saved for the moment. Many still fail to grasp the truths of the gospel because of their affair with the world. Since the gosel shook the foundation of hell, Satan had been ever restless to destroy the salvation of many. Even after our acceptance of the Word, the scripture clearly sates that we shall be tempted and tested by the spirits of the world.
Knowing that we become believers by faith, it is also important that we be more matured as we grow in our knowledge of Him. Every individual will be responsible for his or her own salvation. Salvation is a gift and it can be ours till eternity if we firmly hold on to the way of faith and to the way of truth. Chances are that you may be deceived if you disobey God like our forefathers did. The devil will do everything that is in his power to create chaos and confusion in you till you are weakened by his attacks. The challenge is that either we allow him to weaken our faith or we destroy him through our faith. Being justified by faith we should hold on to what is now ours. This is the war that we are destined to fight and the battle will continue till the coming of Christ. Only the ones who fights well will win. This is the way of faith.
