DIMAPUR — The Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE), Dimapur, celebrated Literary Day on September 8 with the theme ‘Celebrating Diversity through Creativity’ at the premises of the college.

According to a press statement, the teaching faculty and the students attended the event wearing Indian attire and celebrated the day through various competitions, including poetry slam, extempore speech, drama, solo dance, and other competitions.

During the programme, special guest Dr. Inakali Assumi, an educator, researcher, and author, encouraged the students to become great readers and art admirers.

Reading someone else's art, culture, and history opens one up to the limitless world of the other, she said, adding that it opens up one's understanding of life and allows one to reach out to the world and embrace diversity, as well as plant the seed of love for art and literature.

Assumi is the author of ‘Yellow Dress’ and the Magnus Opus Music and Art Festival 2016 Best Objective Poetry Award winner for the poem ‘She.’

Meanwhile, Dr. Fr. Paul Punii, the principal, exhorted the students to honour written words, authors, and the power of literature. He also insisted they be enthusiastic about learning new ideas, maturing them, and transforming the world.
