DIMAPUR — The PM-USHA Monitoring Cell of Dimapur Government College (DGC), in collaboration with Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) and Bosco College on Teacher Education (BCTE) conducted a one-day workshop on rainwater harvesting and ground water recharging on October 10.
An update from SCHE stated that the resource persons, Henmoi LL, assistant geologist at the Directorate of Geology and Mining, spoke on rainwater harvesting and artificial recharge of ground water. He has attributed over exploitation of land, cutting of trees and urbanisation as some causes for depletion of water level. He, therefore, urged to avoid clean water wastage and water leakages.
The major consumers of ground water in a city like Dimapur, according to him, are household use, water bottling plants, car washing centres, water parks, construction sites, large residential sites and institutions etc.
