DIMAPUR — A faculty development programme on “Teaching and social research” was conducted for the faculty of Salesian College of Higher Education and Bosco College of Teacher Education, Dimapur, by Prof. George Thadathil, SDB, coordinator of International Salesian Universities, Rome.
According to an update, it aided the teachers in choosing a research topic and carrying out relevant and beneficial research for society.
The faculty members explored the possibility of a spot study on the city of Dimapur, drawing on their awareness of the trends in entrepreneurial and employment aspirations of young people in Dimapur.
Issues related to thrift shopping and a sustainable environment, against the backdrop of giant tech and automobile industries making inroads, were explored, with an outline for a pilot study and a provisional report co-created by the 30 participants.
The workshop concluded with a short meditation, which faculty could replicate as a technique to encourage longer attention spans among students in an age of increasing screen time.
Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur, is run and managed by the Society of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Dimapur. Recently, SCHE was accredited with a B+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
