The organisers issued a press release to the media on Saturday informing about the programme. The aim of the programme is to bring together the Rongmei youth in Dimapur, the updates stated. The theme of the programme was ‘khatna suna kariumei’ or ‘together as one, ’according to the press release. During the programme, Holy Mass and choir, duet and dance besides motivational talks, games and entertainment were conducted, the press release stated. “The chief guest in his talk underscored uniqueness of Christian and Catholic faith. He stressed on the values coming together and working together in faith. He encouraged and motivated the youth,” the press release stated. According to the organisers, over 100 youths turned up for the occasion. The programme concluded with a meal, the press release stated. World Communication Day The Salesian College of Higher Education also organised another programme, ‘World Communications Day,’ on July 28 with the theme “From social network communities to the human community.” The organisers issued a separate press release informing about the programme. Based on the Scriptures from Ephesians 4:25, “We are members one of another,” Pope Francis’ message for the occasion urged all to rediscover the positive potential of the internet “by invoking the images of media-network, the community and the human body made up of different members working together.” The updates stated that the Pope invited his audience to reflect on the foundation and importance of their being in relations and to rediscover the desire of the “human person who does not want to be left isolated and alone.” “The community as a network of solidarity,” the press release quoted the Pope “requires mutual listening and dialogue, based on the responsible use of language.” In his homily Fr. Jonas Kerketta referred to the immense possibilities offered by today’s social media for building better individuals, families and societies. “On the other he also pointed out the harms that can be caused by wrong and unbridled use of the same media. He referred to abuses like cyber-bullying, cyber-hacking, cyber-morphing, dissemination of fake news etc,” the press release stated. Further, he was stated to have highlighted the importance of the Pope’s message for freeing people from the ‘net’ and also for helping them to form living human communities. During the offertory procession, the updates stated, symbolic gifts were offered like a radio set, TV monitor, laptop and smart phones besides the Eucharistic bread and wine, with accompanying prayer for each of the gifts.
