DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Government Teachers’ Association (2010 & 2013 batches) has announced the first phase of a peaceful and democratic protest beginning February 26 at the Directorate of School Education (DoSE), demanding resolution of long-pending salary-related grievances.
A press release on Wednesday informed that the protest, scheduled daily from 9 am to 4 pm, will involve members of the association who were formally mainstreamed into the State Education Cadre in 2022 following Cabinet approval.
The association represents 2,293 teachers.

According to the NGTA, despite their absorption into the state cadre with effect from April 21, 2022, their salaries continue to be drawn under Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) funding instead of the appropriate State Account Head, unlike other regular state cadre employees.
The association stated that it has submitted multiple representations over the years seeking inclusion of their salary component under the State Non-Development Expenditure, but no concrete response has been received from the authorities.
In a final attempt, the NGTA served a seven-day ultimatum to the principal director of School Education on February 16, followed by a two-day pen-down strike on February 24 and 25. However, with the issue remaining unresolved, the teachers said they were compelled to intensify their agitation.
