
Dimapur, Feb. 23 (EMN): The commissioner and secretary of Social Welfare department, Sarah R Ritse, inaugurated Sakhi- One Stop Centre (OSC) buildings in Longleng, Tuensang, Kiphire and Phek between February 17 and 19 in presence of the respective district deputy commissioners.
An update from the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) stated that OSC is a centrally sponsored scheme funded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, government of India.
Besides, Sarah Ritse also inaugurated a floriculture training-cum-demonstration unit at Circuit House in Tuensang, an initiative under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP).
It stated that she had appreciated the commendable work done by the district task force headed by the respective deputy commissioners in ensuring timely construction of OSC buildings. She also encouraged all the stakeholders including district legal services authority, police, doctors/ nurses, child protection services (CPS), and Social Welfare officials to continue working together to ensure effective functioning of the OSC as well as implementation of other schemes under the Social Welfare department.
It stated that the district administration/ nodal officers have presented reports on construction of OSC buildings, while the centre administrators of OSC also highlighted their district-specific issues.
The State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) under the department of Social Welfare, which is the nodal agency to facilitate the implementation of OSC, has highlighted the status and significance of OSC scheme which it had catered to over 700 cases since its inception in the state.
The Social Welfare officials, who were present in the programme, included OSD and additional director Tosheli Zhimomi, assistant director Wango Langsym, Women Helpline- 181, CPS and SRCW team.
The state team also interacted with district officials of the department during the visit to the districts.
