KOHIMA — The Sakhabama Baptist Church (SBC) in
Kohima district celebrated its 75th anniversary (1949-2024) on Saturday on the
theme “His faithfulness continues through all generations.” The two-day
celebrations would conclude on December 29.
Speaker of the inaugural programme Rev. Rachülie Vihienuo,
executive director of Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC), emphasised the
importance of faith, reflection and continued spiritual growth. While
congratulating the church on its milestone achievement journey, he also
reminded the congregation to remain steadfast in their faith.
The speaker stated that jubilee is a time to praise God for
all He has done to bring them thus far. He added that as the church celebrates
the past glories, they must also pray for greater blessings and strive to
achieve more of God’s glory as they look forward to the centenary jubilee.
He reminded the gathering to obey the words of God saying
that His moral laws given in the Old Testament are still relevant today. He
also asked the members to be careful and remember the works God has done in the
past.
“Looking back, we will understand the work and wisdom of God
and through that we may find a way forward. The past determines the present and
keeps us rooted. The present gives us hope for the future,” he said.
He further asked the members to be careful with wealth and
pride because it might lead them to forget God and want less of His truth.
The event began with unveiling of a jubilee monolith by Rev.
Rachülie Vihienuo, while the welcome address was delivered by Ketoho Yongo,
convenor of jubilee planning committee. Rev. Savito Nagi, president of ABCC,
and Saphrül Pucho, president of JBCC, delivered jubilee greetings.
A song was presented by the Sakhabama Baptist Church Jubilee
choir followed by the parents’ choir.
It was informed that a total of 75 churches from Angami and
Chokri area attended the celebration.
