Dimapur, August 28 (EMN): Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland added a feather to its cap by winning the All India Sainik School Inter Zonal Football Championship 2017-18 amongst 26 Sainik Schools in the country. The championship was played at Sainik School Nagrota (Jammu and Kashmir). Further adding to the laurels, Cadet Tania Raji captain of the school football team won the best player trophy of the championship. A total of four teams participated in the championship. All the teams were the champions of their respective zones.
Earlier Sainik School Punglwa for the first time in the history of the school emerged as the champions of the East Zone and got the opportunity to represent the East Zone. SS Ghorakhal, SS Bhubaneshwar and SS Rewari were the other schools which took part in the championship. By winning the Inter Zonal Football Championship, Sainik School Punglwa qualified to play the U-17 prestigious Subroto Cup International Football Tournament 2017.
