DIMAPUR — The inter-house badminton championship of Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) concluded on October 16.


An update from the school stated that Tizu House emerged as the champion in the junior category, while Pauna House excelled in the sub-junior category in a closely contested championship.


In the singles event, cadet Bhola Kumar of Tizu House, cadet N Helish Singh of Patkai House, cadet Manjushri of Tizu House and cadet Lenin Singh of Dzukou House were declared champions in their respective categories namely junior boys, sub-junior boys, girls and holding house.


The school’s principal, Col. (Dr) Smita Misra, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, wherein she congratulated the winners and distributed certificates, medals and trophies to the champions.

The school’s vice principal, Lt. Col. Amit Chaudhary, along other staff and cadets were also present at the closing ceremony.


The annual sports event, which began on September 16, saw participation from 72 cadets across four categories namely sub junior, junior, girls and holding house.


It stated that the championship was organised to develop skills of the cadets and to promote sportsmanship, teamwork and healthy competition among students.
